What actually drives the price?
Within one configuration, three things move the number, roughly in this order.
- Capacity. Our catalogue runs from under 7,000 lb to 15,000 lb, and steel gauge scales with the rating far more than anything cosmetic does.
- Arm geometry and floor design. Clear-floor and asymmetric-arm models carry more engineering than a basic symmetric floor-plate lift at the same capacity, and it shows in the price.
- Certification and factory support. Third-party ALI testing is expensive and it is priced in, and a brand with real US parts backing costs more than a container-direct import of the same rated capacity.
What is not in the sticker price?
- Freight. Every lift on this site ships as a palletised LTL shipment, never a parcel. At a residential address you will almost always need a liftgate, and it is the line item people forget to budget.
- Electrical. Most models in our 9,000 lb-and-up range run on a dedicated 208-230V single-phase circuit, not a spare garage outlet. Budget an electrician unless you already run a welder or a compressor off the same panel.
- Concrete. A two-post lift anchors into your slab, full stop. If the slab's thickness or strength is unknown or thin, cutting and pouring a pad to the manufacturer's specification is a contractor's job, and it is not optional.
- Installation. Some models are a confident DIY with a helper; others specify a trained installer. The manual decides, not the price tag.
- Accessories. Truck adapters and frame cradles for low vehicles are the two most people add after their first delivery, because nobody thinks to ask before it arrives.
Budget for the total rather than the ticket. On this category the additional items above are routinely a third again on top of the purchase price, and they are the reason people feel a two-post lift cost more than they expected.
Is a cheap two-post lift a false economy?
Mostly, but the gap between a $1,700 entry model and a $13,000 heavy-duty one is not mostly marketing. Steel gauge, certification, documentation and factory support scale with it, and on equipment that holds a vehicle over a person's head, an undocumented lift is a worse economy than an expensive one even when both raise the same weight.
